Semen Analysis - $145.00

A Semen Analysis provides information on the quality and quantity of spermatozoa, as well as the secretory function of the accessory genital glands. Specifically, documentation is provided on:

  • The seminal fluid: including volume, viscosity, agglutination and, if present, the percent of leukocytic cells.

  • Sperm number: both concentration and total number.Sperm motility: including percent motile, average speed of sperm swimming in a forward direction, and percent of sperm exhibiting linear motility.

  • Sperm morphology: including the percent distribution of both normal and abnormal forms.

  • Sperm survival test: evaluates the ability of sperm to survive extended periods of time in culture. Poor survival is associated with a decreased probability of oocyte fertilization in vitro, and so is a critical aspect of the analysis of the sperm of men considering such assisted reproductive technologies as IUI, GIFT and IVF.

Retrograde Ejaculation Evaluation - $250.00

Retrograde ejaculation is a condition where sperm flows backwards into the bladder during ejaculation. Normally, the bladder neck is closed off during climax to prevent urine from mixing with the semen and also allows semen to flow through the urethra and out of the body. In men who suffer from retrograde ejaculation, the nerves that help the bladder neck to close off are compromised. This results in the failure to close off the bladder neck when a man orgasms, allowing semen to flow into the bladder rather than exiting the body through the urethra. Indications of retrograde ejaculation include little to no ejaculate and cloudy urine after ejaculation. Diagnosis of retrograde ejaculation requires examination of the urine post-ejaculation. This evaluation also includes a complete semen analysis.

Post-Vasectomy Semen Analysis - $120.00

Patients who have had a vasectomy should be checked for the presence of sperm in their ejaculate to ensure that their surgery was successful. The post-vasectomy semen analysis provides information on the quality and quantity of spermatozoa. Specifically, documentation is provided on: The seminal fluid: including volume, viscosity, agglutination and, if present, the percent of leukocytic cells.Sperm number: both concentration and total number.Sperm motility: including percent motile, average speed of sperm swimming in a forward direction, and percent of sperm exhibiting linear motility.
